Fighting aphids on currant: folk methods and the use of insecticides

It is useful for a beginner gardener and an experienced summer resident to learn how to deal with aphids on currants. A malicious insect can be destroyed both with the help of folk methods, and using professional preparations.

Folk methods in the fight against aphids

There are many popular recipes for preparing preparations for spraying currant bushes affected by aphids.

The most popular means include tobacco infusion. For cooking, you need 0.5 kg of tobacco dust and 10 liters of water. The components are mixed in a suitable container, which is put in a dark place for 3 days. After 72 hours, the solution is filtered and a laundry soap pre-ground on a grater is added to it. Then you need to wait until the soap chips have completely dissolved and treat the bushes with the prepared composition.

Wormwood is useful to a summer resident in many cases, including to kill aphids. To prepare the infusion, it is necessary to grind 0.5 kg of grass, fill it with 5 liters of water, add 45 g of crushed laundry soap and 1 cup of wood ash. The mixture is infused for 5 hours, filtered and diluted in water in a ratio of 1: 2.

A good tool in the fight against aphids is the infusion of garlic. 500 g of crushed cloves are poured with 5 l of water and infused for 1 day. After that, the solution is filtered and used to spray currants.

Another useful plant is celandine. The infusion is made from 4 kg of crushed raw materials, 10 l of water, 2 tbsp. l soda ash, 1 tsp. iodine, 30 g tar tar. After thorough mixing, the solution is filtered and used for spraying.

A solution for processing currants can be prepared from marigolds. Dried flowers (half a bucket) are poured with 10 liters of water and infused for 3 days. After filtering, the solution is used to spray berry bushes.

A healthy solution can be prepared without plants. It consists of 10 liters of water, 2 tbsp. l soda ash, 1 tsp. alcohol tincture of iodine, 30 g tar soap, previously ground on a grater. After mixing and filtering the solution, shrubs can be sprayed.

For spraying, you should choose a dry, calm day. This is best done in the evening hours. Each leaf is processed on both sides.

Insecticides offered by garden shops

People who do not want to cook home remedies can use ready-made medications. Specialty stores offer them. The list of insecticides that can kill aphids includes:

  1. Actara. It has a strong effect. Destroys both adults and their larvae. Affects the intestines of insects. The death of the pest occurs after 4-6 hours. It can be used as a spraying agent or through application under the root.
  2. Kinmix. An effective and inexpensive drug with contact-intestinal action. Destroys insects within 2-3 days.
  3. Spark. Inexpensive Russian drug with a wide spectrum of action. The disadvantage is the long term withdrawal from the plant – up to 2 weeks. This means that processing can be carried out no later than 2 weeks before harvesting.
  4. Karbofos. Familiar to almost all gardeners. Differs in efficiency and low cost. Available in various forms – solution, suspension, powder.

Instructions must be attached to any drug, which should be carefully studied before proceeding with use. Only in this way will the remedy have a better effect.

The gardener, using ready-made insecticides, must follow safety measures while protecting his face and hands.
